The Brookings Police Department is a full service organization, offering coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Brookings Police Department currently serves as the only Curry County law enforcement agency providing this level of service. The department also serves as the Southern Curry County 9-1-1 PSAP, dispatching for state, county, and local law enforcement, five fire departments, and Cal-Or Ambulance.
Full time staff include patrol officers, detectives, and communication officers, augmented by Police Reserves and Volunteer in Police Services (VIPS) programs. Additional divisions and special units within the department include K-9, Community Policing, and participation in the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SCINT).
The mission of the Brookings Police Department is to consistently contribute to our community’s reputation as a safe place to live, work, play, learn, and visit. Our mission is accomplished by providing the highest quality law enforcement, community information, and support services possible within the resources provided to us.
We are perceived as the “go to” agency in the community and have the reputation of being professional, responsive, systematic, and adapting rapidly to change in the community, adding value in return for the precious tax dollars with which we are entrusted.
