History of Brookings
Parks & Recreation
You are here:
Balmy ocean breezes, spectacular views, and a host of outdoor recreational activies are just a few of the many reasons Brookings is a great place to visit.
Whether your interest lies in fishing, hiking, golfing, kayaking, biking, swimming, beachcombing, whale watching or just enjoying a good book or a picnic lunch with a beautiful view, Brookings has something for everyone!
Add to the mix good food, interesting shops, friendly people and a mild year-round climate and it's easy to understand why so many of our visitors choose to become full-time residents of Oregon's southernmost coastal city.
Brookings was recently designated as "Bike Friendly." Bicyclists are encouraged to stop by the City's Visitors' Center, located inside City Hall at 898 Elk Drive, to refill water, take a break and get some valuable information about bicycling in the area.
The City of Brookings is the first and only Oregon city designated an Azalea City by the
Azalea Society of America
, and is one of only 16 cities to hold the designation across the nation.
