VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

Police Reserves

Local men and women of our community wear the uniform and badge of the Brookings Police Department and serve as fully sworn, volunteer police officers. They subject themselves to the same risks and stress as any other officer, and all without being paid.  The Police Reserve Program is a living example of community volunteer spirit at its finest.

You may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if your information leads to the arrest or indictment of a felon.

Call Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-888-974-0000
or (541) 412-0989.

Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)

Our Volunteers In Police Service, or VIPS, as we like to refer to them, are a unique group of Volunteers providing a wide range of community policing services to the public such as vacation checks, school zone crossing monitoring, crime scene security, evidence tech, traffic control and park patrol. Although our VIPS do not carry firearms and do not have authority to make arrests or issue citations, they are agents of the Police Department and can act as witnesses in court cases involving law enforcement actions. The VIPS are a non-profit group serving under the auspices of the Brookings Police Department.
