Brookings Swimming Pool

 

The Brookings Swimming Pool is located within Bud Cross Park at the corner of Ransom and 3rd Street.  The City Pool offers a variety of swimming programs and time schedules during the spring and summer seasons from early June through the beginning of September, just after school opens.   Schedules, fees and course offerings are all subject to change

Swim Programs

  • Polar Bear Swim: Early morning lap swim.  May not enter pool area until 5 minutes before the session.

  • Swimming Lessons: Red Cross format lessons for the general public.

  • Noon Swim: Lap swim for adults. May not enter the pool area until 5 minutes before the noon session. Pool is cleared 5 minutes prior to the end of Lap Swim.

  • Public Swim: Supervised recreational swimming. Children must be at least 7 years old and over 48 inches in height or be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times! Pool is cleared 15 minutes prior to the end of public swim.

  • Evening Lap Swim: Lap swim for adults. May not enter pool area until 5 minutes before session. Must be out of facility by 7:15 p.m.

  • Family Swim: Supervised recreational swimming for families and older youth. Children 15 and under must be accompanied by at least one parent in the water. Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper. 

  • Exercise Class: Exercise in shallow end of the pool for swimmers and non-swimmers.

  • A parent or guardian within arm's reach must supervise children using flotation devices. No personal flotation devices allowed except for U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets. Water wings are not allowed.

 

Pool Rental

  • The pool is available for rental:

    1 to 30 people - $60.00 per hour/Non resident - $75.00

    31 to 60 people - $90.00 per hour/ Non resident - $112.50

    61 to 100 people - $125.00 per hour/ Non resident - $156.25

  • All programs and dates are subject to change due to attendance, weather, or equipment failure.

  • Refunds for swimming lessons will be given only to requests made at least one full week prior to the first class lesson.

 

Basic Pool Rules

  • No smoking, gum, food or drink in the bathhouse or on deck.

  • All swimmers must shower before entering the pool.

  • Non-swimmers and weak swimmers must stay at the shallow end of the pool. Swimmers who wish to use the deep end of the pool must pass a swim test.

  • No running on the pool deck or in the bathhouse.

  • No unnecessary roughness.

  • No balls, air mattresses, inflatable toys, water wings, or floaties. 

  • Swimmers will be expelled for failure to obey posted rules and verbal instructions from the pool staff at the discretion of the pool manager.

  • No shorts, hemmed or otherwise.

  • No shirts in the pool.

  • Spectators must stay in the spectator area; they are not allowed inside the pool enclosure.

  • Swimmers who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper.
