Councilor Ron Hedenskog
graduated from East High School in
Denver, Colorado, where he grew up. After helping
his family relocate to Brookings in 1966, he returned to
school at Colorado's Trinidad State College where he majored in
math and engineering.
Ron met his wife, Rose, at the Pine Cone theatre
one Christmas when he'd come home for a visit. That next
year he transferred to Southern Oregon State College in Ashland.
He married Rose just before he was drafted into the Army, where
he spent the next two years. After his discharge, he and
Rose settled down in Brookings and built their first home on his
in-law's property in 1973. Ron and Rose have two children,
Christina and Scott, both of whom live, work and are busy
raising their families here in Brookings.
For the next 20 years, Ron worked for South Coast
Lumber in the sawmill division while Rose worked for the school
district at the Kalmiopsis School Library. Ron also worked
for 6 years as a local contractor and for 9 years as a surveyor
for Richard B. Davis. Right now, Ron is in the process of
building a home on his Old County Road property.
At the prompting of friends in the summer of
2006, Ron decided it was time to take his "turn at the wheel"
and run for City Council as so many others had done before him.
Ron's goal as City Councilor is do his part to help prepare the
community for the future.
