 Bankus Fountain

Beauty in the Heart of the City

Bankus Fountain is located on the north side of Chetco Avenue (Hwy 101) at Fifth Street

Bankus Fountain invites visitors and residents to relax and sit a spell.
Planted with azaleas, rhododendrons, and flowerings trees the park honors Elmer Bankus, a leading force in early Brookings development.

Gently flowing water cascades into ever enlarging pools.
For 37 years Elmer Bankus was Brookings most prominent businessman, land developer, and philanthropist. His obituary in the Curry Coastal Pilot in 1973 notes that he was one of the pioneer land developers of the City of Brookings and laid out a number of water mains, streets and land tracts within the area. (Except from Then Till Now in Brookings-Harbor, A Social History of the Chetco Community Area)
