In July, 2002, Councilor Dave Gordon
and his wife Jean, migrated
to Brookings from Santa Cruz, California. Born and raised in
Brooklyn, New York, he attended New York City public schools.
At Pace College and City College of New York, Dave majored
in Accounting and Business Administration.
Drafted in 1965,
he served four years as a commissioned
officer in the Army. Returning to the states after a tour
in Vietnam, he resigned his commission and
received an honorable
discharge
in 1969 with the rank of Captain.
Dave moved from his home town, New York City, to Palo Alto,
California and joined the high tech industry in 1969 and spent 33 years
with several electronic firms serving as sales and marketing
director.
When he and his wife moved to Brookings, they purchased a small
business "Copy-All Printing" which provided copies and
printing services to the local economy.
In
a short period of time, Dave was elected to the Chamber of
Commerce Board of Directors, volunteered and served on the
Brookings Parks and Recreation Commission, was appointed to the
Board of the Brookings Harbor Youth Association, elected to
the Board of Directors of the local Chapter of the Vietnam
Veterans Association, and joined the local Rotary organization.
Councilor
Gordon's areas of interest are: City administration's delivery
of quality services to our growing community; land use planning;
and the health and safety of our citizens.
